Lake Padden Open Water Swim 2011

The Race for the Bobbleheads is back! Come join us in beautiful Bellingham on Saturday, July 16 for the 11th Annual Lake Padden Open Water Swim. Choose between a 2.5K or 5K swim. Both races start at 9am and as always, we will have plenty of music and food to fill you up after the swim. Bring your friends and family and spend the day after the race walking the 2.6 mile loop around the lake, mountain biking on the back trails, playing some tennis or golf, have a barbeque, or simply relaxing in the City of Subdued Excitement. Parking is always free at the lake and is also free throughout Bellingham on the weekends.

RACE DAY SCHEDULE
7:30 -8:30am - Check-in for all events
8:45am - Pre-race briefing
9:00am - Joint Start (2.5k and 5k)

This event is FUN! There will be plenty of snacks, and music. Unlike many other Open Water Swim races, there is free parking, locker rooms and showers. You won’t need to be transported to a start or need a ride back from the finish line. Awards for the top finishers, participation prizes, and swim caps are provided.

Directions:

Southbound: I-5 exit 254, left at light onto Samish Way. Cross freeway, right at light (S. Samish Way), main entrance to park (not golf course) is 2.4 miles on right.

Northbound: I-5 exit 246, left at stop sign (S. Samish Way), main entrance to the park is beyond the golf course entrance, 2.5 miles on left. Race start & finish is near the bathhouse adjacent to the main parking lot.

NOTE FOR 5K: Because we have to rent the facilities and lifeguards, we will have a change for the 5K event this year. If you enter the 5K event and have not completed the first lap within an hour you will automatically be converted to the 2.5K race entrant and be directed to the finish line.
