2009 Lake Padden Open Water Swim: Saturday, August 1, 2009
New this year: 2.5K Teen Swim Event
The 2009 Lake Padden Open Water Swim event was brilliant!
The bright, warm sun sparkled on the calm, 73 degree waters of Lake Padden at 9 AM Saturday August 1st. A swimmer from Australia, as well as swimmers from Maryland, Arkansas, and California joined swimmers from Oregon, Washington and British Columbia. This year for the first time we also had teenagers join us.
A great time was had by everyone, with music, lots of food, spectacular weather, amazing door prizes, and, best of all, bobblehead trophies for the overall winners.
Perfect conditions resulted in fast times. The overall 5K winner, Thomas Gradine, who also won in 2008 was 2 minutes faster this year. There were several very close races, with only a second between first and second in the men's 2.5K overall, and only 1.5 seconds between the 2nd place men's 5K and 4th place.
Please see attached PDF files below for race results including overall, master's only, and results of each event by age group.
